We would like to thank you all for your unemployed and trying stories. We encourage you to send us emails with your stories!

  • A patriotic American all of my life and now sad to confess my shrinking faith in this country and it’s government to act responsibly in the face of dire times to address the urgent and growing needs of unemployed Americans. I am one of millions of citizens and voters who have worked much of their lives, done the right thing, and paid taxes incessantly to support the common good of this country. Now, when so many of us find ourselves without jobs and desperately struggling in a crippled economy caused by unbridled greed, special interests patronage, unpoliced regulation and the outsourcing of jobs to other countries, our elected representatives are haggling over whether or not to continue the lifeline for us??? Puhleeeze!
As a middle aged highly experienced and productive worker, layoffs have been forced me to give up my career of 17 years and I am left with little potential to remain in the same role or business due to serious decline of the business in this country. Once a middle class American enjoying the American dream, I am no longer any of that. I am sure there are many illegal as well as legal immigrants enjoying a higher standard of living than I am now, through special programs and funding. This makes it especially difficult for us to swallow the ongoing debate about the extension of unemployment benefits for deserving American citizens who have paid into the system and generated huge profits for their employers over their lifetime.
I recently watched as a news journalist challenged a republican congressman with the question of healthcare reform – why are all Americans not able to partake in the special health care coverage options enjoyed by Congress? That would seem to make best sense versus all of the clamor and self defeating discontent among our representative as they strive to re-create the wheel and craft a whole new freight train being called health care reform? Please, someone answer that question – why cannot all Americans partake in the special health care coverage options that Congress enjoys??? This question needs larger emphasis and exposure and Washington needs to be held accountable to provide an answer to this question. We are sick and tired of the dodgery and elitism being demonstrated in Washington.
  • My unemployment benefits ran out in September, October was a very hard month and November will be harder. Please pass this bill NOW, not tomorrow, not next week. I don’t have enough money for food. I am looking for jobs but nothing is happening. Please push this bill through so I can feed my family and give me a clearer head as I look for another job. PLEASE, it is desperate. Thousands lose benefits everyday, mine are already exhausted and I need this for daily necessities. Please help us, don’t get caught up in politics now, this is not the right time when you are dealing with people putting food on their table.
  • Why are the Republicans taking so long to help the hundreds of thousands of people losing their unemployment benefits every month..? Why? Because it doesn’t affect their families, that’s why.And in my opinion, this kind of thinking is at the heart of why the Republican Party lost the last election and will continue to lose. There really is no such thing as a ‘compassionate conservative.’ …just a lot of talk!Joe, A REAL PLUMBER, as in licensed!

UPDATE: We have had an amazing response to this issue! If you would like to write an article to those in Washington as to why YOU think unemployment benefits should be extended please email them to jwojdylo@subprimeblogger.com. If your article is free of profanity and any direct insults we will be more than happy to post it here on Unemployed and Trying so you can send the link to anyone you choose.
